Key issues
It is anticipated that you will now:
■ be able to feel more confident about supporting learners with medical conditions in mainstream settings;
■ be able to identify some of the factors that schools need to consider when including learners with infections such as HIV/AIDS;
■ be able to understand some of the educational difficulties that can be associated with HIV/AIDS;
■ be able to work more closely with other professionals to develop individual programs of support for learners, such as those in early puberty, or teenage mothers, enabling effective education to take place;
■ be aware of other types of provision that may be able to support learners with a specific need;
■ be willing to consider mental health problems as real issues for learners and to seek appropriate support and care.
