Secure accommodation

A young person may be placed in secure accommodation for his/her own safety and welfare. They may also be either on remand or awaiting trial, or have been given a custodial sentence. ‘Secure accommodation’ could be a Local Authority Secure Unit, a Young Offenders’ Institution, a prison or a Secure Training Centre.
