Education and its role in achieving sustainable development

Education achieves the development of human capital by acquiring information, culture and skill, which leads to increasing the degree of opportunities and strengthening institutions in society, as well as achieving environmental awareness. These axes contribute to developing productivity and achieving stability, which means sustainable development.

Objectives of Environmental Education:

1- Demonstrate awareness and interest in economic, social and environmental interdependence in urban and rural areas.

2- Provide every person with opportunities to acquire the knowledge, values, inclinations, commitment and skills required to protect and improve the environment.

3- Creating new patterns of behavior for individuals and society as a whole towards development.

To achieve sustainable development through education through:

1- Benefit from the local environment in which schools and universities are located to provide students with knowledge and skills to develop environmental awareness.

2- Reconsidering teacher preparation programs and developing them to achieve the goals of environmental education.

3- Rehabilitation and preparation of teaching staff to develop student preparation programs in environmental sciences.

4- Benefiting from environmental expertise in non-educational institutions in teaching environmental courses
