People in Arabia were used to live a hard life whether they lived in cities or Bedouin groups, And the conditions of attacking other cities or tribes attacking each other made them start killing their own children and especially the girls to reduce the loss and raise the strongest males(for raiding or protecting proposes)

And they kept doing that even after the reduce of the need for it, and for that ,the great Allah said: "And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin."
