Among the other natural desires that begin to appear in the depths of the boy when he reaches puberty, and motivate him to work and be active, is the desire to achieve autonomy and build personality. He needs his parents' care and attention. With the onset of puberty, the childhood period ends, and the body begins to grow comprehensively and rapidly, and the qualities of a complete man gradually emerge in it. In addition to the physical changes, there are changes that occur in the psyche of the boy, as new emotions and feelings are born in him, including a sense of independence and personality building.
The young man's inclination to freedom:
“The desire of the young man to prove his social personality appears in many cases, which do not depart from the framework of a purely self-activity. The boy seeks to express his desire to separate from the world of childhood in order to have a free and independent life.
“As the boy no longer needs someone to take care of and supervise him, he is responsible for all his movements and actions in front of society, and this is confirmed by the penal and human rights laws. The boy is no longer a young child, and his parents must give him his freedom little by little, because he wantes to have a life different from the childhood life that he abandoned with all its childish movements, behaviors, and habits. He emerges from the narrow scope of childhood into the vast world of manhood, and the desire for independence is only a link in the complementary chain of human life.
Acceptance of his membership in the community:
Satisfying the boy's desire to achieve independence and build personality properly is an obligation, as attention must be paid to these two innate desires, because the boy, as a result of puberty, finds himself facing two great responsibilities, people blaming him for his personal behavior and accepting his membership in society. In order for the boy to gain his independence, he must take care of his personal responsibility, but if he wants to be a member of his society, he must build his personality.
Entitlement to reward and punishment:
The boy is responsible for his behavior and actions as stipulated in Islamic rulings and man-made laws, so he is independent and has the choice to perform the good or bad actions and behaviors, so therefore the law of reward and punishment applies to him. A person must be independent in his personality and will in order to be held accountable for his behavior and actions according to Sharia rulings and man-made laws.
The youth stage constitutes the end of the childhood period and the beginning of a complete social life. The adult boy emerges from the narrow circle of the family into the broad circle of society, to become a member of society who bears the responsibilities of others. Whoever desires to be an influential member of the society must build for himself a personality that can identify with the society and be characterized by the characteristics of membership in it. These qualities that the individual chooses to be imprinted with and through which he can dissolve in society, are termed in psychology as personal qualities. In short, the need to achieve personal responsibility and social membership requires the boy to work to achieve his desire for independence and build personality, and to properly satisfy these two innate desires.
