Earth is exposed to a very strong magnetic field

On April 23, scientists at the Institute of Applied Geophysics announced that a very strong G4-level magnetic storm was recorded on Earth during the past 24 hours.

According to scientists' estimates, "the disturbance of the Earth's magnetic field has now reached degree 4, meaning that disturbances may occur in low-frequency radio navigation via satellites, and the aurora borealis can be seen in the equatorial region."

Magnetic storms are disturbances in the Earth's magnetic field caused by solar flares, and magnetic storms are divided into 5 levels or degrees. The weakest is G1 and the strongest is G5. The magnetic storm can last from a few hours to several days.

It is noteworthy that magnetic storms and the phenomenon of the aurora borealis result from the influence of solar wind particles in the upper layers of the atmosphere. Therefore, residents of the central regions of Russia and the city of Moscow could witness the aurora borealis phenomenon due to solar activity.
