Let Your Mind Think in an Organized Way Using Pen and Paper
2:7:36 2025-04-29 2096

Thinking using the "pen and paper" method—by laying out data or information or visualizing it in a diagram—helps the mind think in an organized way and opens the door for inspiration and new ideas.

Here’s how to use this method:

  • Place the subject of your research or the problem you are trying to solve in the center of the paper, represented by a single word or a few key words.
  • Around the central word (or topic), write other words or brief ideas that are related to it. Let your thoughts or inspiration flow, and consider creating subcategories or adding new related facts.
  • Continue branching out—expand your research and thinking by writing down new information until you’ve nearly covered all aspects related to the topic in the center of the page.
  • Engage your mind throughout the process and try answering potential questions: How? Why? Where?
  • You can also include symbols, pictures, or any special marks you find helpful. You may also add numbers or proportional values to ideas or keywords to indicate their level of importance.
