General steps for leading a family

There are basic functions that the father must pay attention to and perform, knowing that these functions differ according to the classes of one society and other societies:

1- Intellectual structure: The father is the element that lays the foundations of the intellectual structure of the family and determines the value system that controls the individuals. The mother may have an opinion in this area as well, and then the two opinions must be combined.

In fact, the father represents the religious leader of the family, and Islam has greatly emphasized this matter, as he is the one who builds the moral and ethical base of the family and supervises religious and belief issues. He is the one who commands his children to pray (and command your family to pray.), honesty, sacrifice and redemption. He also supervises his wife and children and directs them towards the eternal path. The positions that children take regarding various incidents are only a reflection of the father’s guidance.

2- Organizing and dividing tasks: The father adopts the process of organizing various matters within his family. He determines the schedule of sleep and wakefulness, eating and playing, travel and recreation, it is he who delineates the responsibilities of the family members at home, who is responsible for purchases, who brings food, who takes care of the foundation of the house and the flowers of the garden, and so on.

The consideration of the father is determined, in part, in light of this organization and division of functions, such that no individual is allowed to exceed the limits set for him.

3- Organizing relationships: The father undertakes the process of organizing and defining relationships. He regulates the relationship between brother and sister, the elder with the younger, and the family’s relationships with friends and relatives. Does the older brother or sister have the right to command and prohibit? Do they have to be obeyed?

The father also supervises the good practice of this relationship, and prevents mistakes and transgressions, especially when any family member imposes his opinion on others, or takes advantage of his power and is violent with the weak.

4- Drawing up a life program: Every family needs a special program for its stability and stability, provided that all members adhere to it. This program must be constructive and purposeful to achieve the family's current and future interests.

The father must use his experiences and reason and seek help from the experiences of others in order for this program to succeed and achieve its results. This plan must include everything the family needs in terms of entertainment and other matters that lead to its building and development and cultivate familiarity and understanding among its members. This program should take into account age, awareness, understanding and physical capabilities.

5- Time management: The father has a great responsibility in organizing the family members’ schedule. Children - especially those studying in schools - are given times to study, play, and be with friends.

The goal of organizing time is to arrange and build the family’s living life, which requires a special policy so that the child, for example, does not invest most of his time in playing and having fun and abandons his studies, or devotes himself completely to the process of studying and reading and abandons his physical, psychological and emotional needs.

6- Monitoring and attention: The father is considered the child’s refuge. It is true that a mother wants to make her child happy, and she has the right to do so, but the responsibility for guidance if any deviation or error occurs falls on the father.

The reason for this role is because of the father's responsibility to monitor and take care of the family. He must protect the family from physical and moral dangers. This is a great and important responsibility at the same time and requires great efforts, which only the father can achieve despite its difficulty.

7- Maintaining discipline: The father is responsible for the family’s commitment and discipline, and he must teach his son to obey the laws and abide by them. He must cooperate with his wife and support her in order to achieve the required discipline.

The mother has an important role in this field because of the influence of her personality and characteristics on the children. But the role of the father is many times greater than that of the mother because he is the head and master of the family. Under it, individuals understand the meaning of the law.

The child expects love, kindness, and tenderness from his mother, and expects justice and adherence to the law from his father.
