It is reported by al-Irbili that he mentioned the following narration:
It is related that when the Prophet's mother became pregnant with him, she heard a voice saying:
"You have conceived the master of this nation. The sign of this is that, when you give birth to him, you will see a light by which the palaces of Syria will be illuminated"—and in another narration, "the palaces of Bosra." "When he falls to the ground, say: 'I seek protection for him with the One God from the evil of every envier,' and name him Mohammad, for his name in the Torah is Ahmad. He will be praised by the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth, and his name in the Qur'an is Mohammad."
She therefore named him Mohammad.
Ibn Khālawayh narrated in his book al-Āl that Āminah bint Wahb, the mother of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), saw in a dream that she was told:
"You have conceived the best of all creation and the master of all the worlds. When he is born, name him Mohammad, for his name in the Torah is Ḥāmid, and in the Gospel it is Ahmad. Fasten upon him this protective amulet (taʿwīdh)."
She said:
"I awoke and found at my head a sheet of gold on which was written:
'I place him under the protection of the One from the evil of every envier, every rebellious creature, whether standing or sitting, from every hostile people, every opponent on the path, every one who strives in corruption, and every one who lies in wait along the roads and watering places. I forbid them from harming him by Allah Allmighty. I surround him with the Supreme Hand and with the Hand that cannot be seen. The Hand of Allah is above their hands, and the protection of Allah stands between him and their hostility. May no affliction reach him, nor may any harm touch him while sitting or standing, traveling or sleeping, at the beginning of the night or at the end of the days.'"
